Ivan Petrovich Pavlov

I. P. Pavlov was proud of the flourishing of science in our country after the great October socialist revolution. At the reception by the government delegations of the XV International Congress of physiologists, he said: "...We, heads of scientific institutions, are situated right in distress and concern about, will we be able to justify all the money that is provided to us by the government".
The first major act of international recognition was the award of I. P. Pavlov's Nobel prize in 1904.
At the international congresses where he had to act, it is usually welcomed stormy applause.
At the final session of the XV International Congress on physiology one of the delegates on behalf of the Congress said, referring to I. P. Pavlov: "You certainly elder physiologists of the world". But times change. More and more often hear abroad voices against the teachings of Pavlov. Not only in England, as prophesied once Sherrington, but in the other capitalist countries inspect Pavlovskoe doctrine as materialistic. This is a reflection of the struggle on the international stage two ideologies - advanced, materialistic, and reactionary idealistic.
But leading scientists of the world I. P. Pavlov remains indisputable authority and immortal teacher.
Pavlov love their country, their people. "I've always worked with a desire to serve the good name of his people," - said he in 1924 the Leningrad physiologist, Professor (later-academician) A. A. Ukhta. The same idea he repeated shortly before his death in conversation with the representative of the Soviet press:
"Whatever you do, always think that serve it, how many allow me my strength, first of all, my Fatherland". And he really gave all his strength to the prosperity of Russian science, to Russian, Soviet physiology occupied the first place in the world science.
He was proud of the achievements in physiology. "Yes, I am glad, " he wrote in 1934, that together with Ivan Mikhailovich (Sechenov. - Ed.) and regiment my dear employees, we purchased for the mighty power of physiological research, instead of half -, full undivided animal organism. And this is entirely our Russian undeniable merit in the world of science, in General human thought".
I. P. Pavlov has lived most of his life in pre-revolutionary Russia. He saw the bondage imposed by the autocracy to free development of the peoples of Russia. He saw the ruling classes, bowing to all foreign and humiliate her, Russian, and firmly believed that "we become what we must and can be, judging by many episodes of our historical life and for some strokes of our creative forces". And so, when autocracy has been overthrown, Ivan Petrovich, welcoming in April 1917 the I Congress of the Russian physiologists, wrote: "We just broke up with a gloomy grim time... it is already past and, hopefully, irrevocable".
The October revolution Ivan Petrovich "took" not at once. He feared that a Grand social experiment" bring him home to die. But when he saw that his Motherland not only survived, but began to grow and develop, it is entirely and completely sided with the greatest socialist transformation of the country. "In my Homeland, - he said - is now a Grand social reorganization. Destroyed wild gap between rich and poor. I want to live even as long until you see the final results of this perestroika". But until that time Ivan Petrovich did not survive. on February 22, 1936 86-year-old scientist contracted severe flu fallen into pneumonia, and on February 27, at 2 hours and 52 minutes, Ivan Petrovich Pavlov did not.
I. P. Pavlov was an outstanding Figure of advanced science, "...the science, where people, they understand the power and value established in science traditions and skillfully using them in the interests of science, do not want to be slaves of these traditions, who has the courage, the determination to break with old traditions, norms, installation, when they become obsolete, when they become an obstacle to moving forward, and which is able to create new traditions, new norms, new installations" (I. Stalin).
I. P. Pavlov fertilized their ideas science and medicine and sent science for the benefit of millions of people. He created a powerful school of physiologists, numbering over three scientific generation. In their good hands is the development of scientific heritage of the great teacher and scientist I. P. Pavlova.
"On the disciples of Ivan Petrovich, - wrote in 1936 oldest his disciple, academician L. A. Orbeli, is the responsibility lies with the sacred duty before his memory, to science, to the Motherland - the combined forces continue to develop its problems, to use the specified path to follow his example of selfless and tireless quest is true."
The centenary of the birth of Ivan Petrovich Pavlov - the pride of Russian science - is the holiday of the Soviet people, who deeply venerates the memory of the great Russian scientist, a patriot and a citizen.
