Aeration

Aeration - intensive flow of air in different environments conducive to rapid oxidation of organic substances.
Aeration is used as a method of water deironing, deodorization of drinking water, is widely used in the processes of biological treatment of wastewater, especially in aeration tanks and aerofilter.
Aeration is filtered through glass, coal and cotton filters atmospheric air which is fed under pressure of 1-1.5 ATM at the rate of 1 l/min Acting in the form of small bubbles, it nourishes the environment oxygen.
In Microbiology aeration - blowing sterile air through the thick liquid nutrient medium, is used for deep cultivation of microorganisms in the reactor with the purpose of stimulation of growth of planted crops aerobes. The rate of oxygen in any part of the cultural liquid should not be less than the rate of its consumption.

Aeration (from the Greek. aer - air) - natural receipt or mechanical introduction of atmospheric air in different environments; widely used in the hygiene in the implementation of the San. and sanitary-technical measures. Aeration promotes intensive oxidation (mineralization) organic substances, and therefore is used for deferrization of water, deodorization of drinking water and biological treatment of wastewater. Aeration industrial and public facilities to create favorable microclimatic conditions, or is part of activities to air conditioning. (see Ventilation).
Aeration in Microbiology. Aeration microbial cultures for strengthening the supply of microbes oxygen in liquid nutrient media is used to improve the reproduction of aerobic microorganisms (see Aerobes). Initially, A. achieved by shaking the flask with the crop. Then A. were made with the help of fermenters-reactors of different capacity with bubblers for air supply and mechanical agitators for its dispersion. This technology is now standard in-depth production of antibiotics, vitamins, for cultivation of bacteria used in the preparation of preventive drugs.
A. cultures in reactors is constant transmission filtered ambient air through a nutrient medium in which it is cultivated microbes. Through a series of filters, air sterilized and entered into the medium through slightly narrowed pipe up to the bottom of the reactor. Dispersion of air in the reactor produced by the turbine mixer. Without stirring not achieved the necessary degree of aeration. The rate of oxygen supply must be equal to the rate of consumption, otherwise it will be a temporary lack of oxygen, which impairs breathing cells. Air is supplied to the reactor is usually the number one medium volume 1 minutes
The degree of aeration is controlled by defining environment dissolved oxygen chemical or polarographic way. Direct method of control A. - determine the amount of air blown through a medium for what used
special devices - rotameters. A continuous flow of air in finely pulverized state provides optimal feeding of the nutrient medium with oxygen, which leads to increased metabolism in bacteria and their intensive breeding. A. cultures increases the degree and speed of consumption by bacteria nutrients.
