Biology of aging and old age

The problem of the biology of aging and old age is definitely one of the most exciting challenges faced by the individual and mankind as a whole. All human life, between his birth and his death is certain periods beginning and end are individual for each person. Recognizing that man is mortal, that life is always inevitably ends in death, people couldn't reconcile with it. No matter how old they was dying, life always seemed too short, death has always been an enemy to them, and to deceive themselves and to cheat death, they invented a legend about the afterlife. This legend has been subject to exploitation by the ruling classes, it gave them the opportunity to convince people suffering in this life, operated by the ruling classes, that all their lifetime of suffering will be compensated by the joy in another life after death.
The aging of our bodies is the process that brings us closer to death, and old age is the period immediately preceding death. But such a definition is almost not enough. A man can die and the young, by war, by disease from other causes, in this age that is not senile. And yet it is in these cases is in the period immediately preceding death.
What is the aging process? Is it a natural process of the human body, the duration of which is limited? Or is the result of those pathological influences that we Experience in life? Whether old age itself is a disease which we die, or old age is the result of diseases, transferred us in life? Whether we have the ability to prevent the aging process, to postpone retirement, make it painless?
The first problem that we face in the study of this question, the following: is there a physiological age, that is, in which the phenomena we call the phenomena of aging, come without any disease comes as a natural evolution of our body, which is the process of dying?
Saying that there is a normal physiological age, not justified and not driven by the disease, we are talking theoretically. Practically this age we do not see and cannot see. In modern conditions of old age, it offensive, its development, connected with the disease. People not always dies from old age itself, and from the disease. We have seen that death from "frailty"in international and national nomenclatures causes of death, could not even be considered scientific. This classification is due to the fact that either do not know the exact cause of death or diagnosis is not a doctor, and loved ones who think that it happened in the age that is considered "old". Finally, sometimes such a diagnosis is due to the fact that the physician issuing a death certificate, indifferent, from which a man died,- he needs only to fill in the category of cause of death, because he is required by law.
Just half a century ago I. I. Mechnikov wrote: "Science is not just a means against old age, but she even knows almost nothing about this period, the life of humans and animals. Quite a few lines to describe our information age, and so little we know about it".
Engels saw death as a significant moment, he considered that, in essence, denial of life inherent in the very life so that life is always conceived in relation to its inevitable end, consisting in it in the Bud - death. "Dialectical understanding of life to this and is reduced".
Well-known statement by Engels: "to Live means to die." But unfortunately, this formula often been understood very simplistic and wrong. The question of death is clear - this is the exact moment that ends interrupts the existence of every living creature.
But not so with the approach of the period, when death is close, it is possible, although it is never desirable. This is the period of aging, which is characterized objectively next morphological, functional, and other changes in the status and functions of organs, tissues and cells of our body. What we call aging,is only the external manifestations of these changes and corresponding changes in our consciousness, our feelings of life, people, myself.
