Struggle for life

High on the bright Olympus goddess of fate kloto life spins thread of man. Will break the thread and will end life. So in Greek mythology reflected the religious view of the manifest destiny of man. However, already in ancient times there existed and materialistic views. Thought, when suddenly dies of a strong, healthy body, you need to try to restore its vital functions. Already at that time there were attempts to revive the people, and used for the most unusual and naive from a modern point of view of ways. If the patient was in a state of agony, he did rend; to the body of the deceased was put incandescent material; pulled out his front teeth was introduced smoke in the respiratory tract and the gut, even rolled it in a barrel. We know that for fifteen centuries BC there were attempts of revival by blowing air from the mouth to mouth. This method in an improved form has reached our days.
However, vivify man was possible in very rare cases - because at that time was missing quite a correct understanding of the structure and functions of the human body were not revealed regularities of the process of dying body. But only empirical, that is not based on accurate scientific knowledge, approach to the phenomenon of death could not, of course, lead to success.
Only in the middle of last century, there were studies that reflect the beginning of a new stage in the development of the problem of recovery. Doctors began to put before itself a problem of experimental study of regularities of extinction of vital functions of separate organs and tissues and restore their livelihoods. It was established that the creation of artificial blood circulation in organs such as the heart, liver, glands of internal secretion, and even the brain leads to a temporary recovery of their activities.
Especially important are the work of the brown-séquard Forth Heymans and K. of Heymans, A. A. Kulyabko, S. I. Chechulin and C. C. Bryukhonenko, stipulating a possibility of recovery of the animal brain. Langendorf, N. P. Kravkov, and many other scientists have conducted experiments to revive removed from the corpse heart of the animal.
In 1902, the Russian scientist A. A. Kulyabko for the first time in the world quickened heart, extracted from the human body.
Detailed study of peculiarities of extinction and recovery activities, isolated bodies of animals and humans are ongoing. For example, in 1946, S. C. Andreev revived the heart of man through 99 hours after his death.
Based on the experimental study of regularities of recovery of isolated organs in the beginning of XX century there was a new, materialistic, evidence-based approach to the question about the revival of the whole organism. It is based on the work of the Czech scientist Back, a German scientist Zeller and our compatriot F. A. Andreev.
In 1913, F. A. Andreev has shown that if the dog, poisoned diphtheria toxin, strangled, weakened or killed by an electric current, in the carotid artery that carries blood from the heart to the brain, to enter in the direction of the heart, blood or substitute salt solution with addition of substances that contribute to nutrition and stimulation of the heart, then this fluid, acting in the coronary vessels that feed the heart muscle, will restore its activity. The heart will start again. After some time the animals were resumed breathing, and then to some extent and activity of the higher parts of the brain. But further experimental dogs, as a rule, was killed - because at that time were not yet known many patterns that now not only help to revive the body, but also to make it viable.
These experiments F. A. Andreev opened the prospects for recovery of people.
Sometimes dispute arises: is the problem of recovery of a new or old in medical science? To answer this question in two ways. Old she is because the origins of the study dates back to ancient times; new because comprehensive deep its development was only possible at the present level of medical knowledge and technology. It is no coincidence that in the last two to three decades spent so much work and how many of them had not been in this area for all time of existence of scientific medicine.
To the problem of recovery of the body was real, it took a high level of scientific knowledge. Now the recovery of the organism is a new field of medical and biological Sciences. It aims at a comprehensive study of regularities of dying body, that is, terminal States. And it will give an opportunity to more deeply approach to the treatment of terminal States to achieve not accidental, but a permanent and full recovery of the organism in cases, when in sudden death with full viability of all tissues and organs.
