Cocaine (Cocainum; list a) - local anesthetic agent. Applied in the form of cocaine hydrochloride (Cocainum hydrochloricum, Cocaini hydrochloridum). Highly toxic, so is used only for surface anesthesia of the conjunctiva and cornea (1-3% solution), mucous membranes of the mouth, nose, and larynx (2-5% solution), mucous membranes of the urethra (3-5% solution).
