Preface
In the Soviet Union concern about the health of the younger generation is a national problem and is aimed at improving health care for children. The Soviet Government annually allocates huge means for construction and reconstruction of medical institutions for children.
In recent years there has been significant progress in the study of diseases of the urinary system. Achievements in the field of urology, Nephrology, immunology, Microbiology, morphology, and other edge disciplines allowed us to reconsider many of the provisions concerning the etiology and pathogenesis of diseases of the urinary system, taking into account the anatomic and physiological features of a children's organism. New data on developmental anomalies of urinary system in children, which is the most frequent cause of acute and chronic inflammatory diseases. Achievements of anesthesiology, clinical pathophysiology and surgery (especially plastic) allowed us to reconsider many of the provisions concerning the type and volume of surgical intervention, and also kinds of conservative treatment. However, these achievements are the property of highly specialised children's hospitals and are not widely available in the majority of district and municipal children's hospitals. All the above gave rise to the creation of the manual of pediatric urology for doctors, directly engaged in these diseases in children, and specialists in related disciplines.
In the manual are widely reflection of the main problems of pediatric urology at the age aspect. In the General part describes the anatomical and physiological characteristics of the urinary and reproductive systems in children, clinical semiotics of diseases of the urinary system, research methods, General questions operational techniques and management of patients in the postoperative period. In a special section describes the developmental anomalies of the kidneys, ureters, bladder and urethra, neurogenic urination disorders, diseases of the testicle, acute and chronic inflammatory diseases non-specific nature, nephrogenic hypertension, renal failure, and methods of transplantation of kidneys, damage to the reproductive organs, urooncology disease, rektovaginalnoy and rectvisible fistulas and functions of a single kidney. The manual reflects not only the experience of the authors, but also the experience of other clinicians. It highlights not all issues: there are no sections on parasitic diseases of the urinary system in children due to the low prevalence of this pathology in them; there is no section on determination of the sex of the baby - this problem is first of all endocrinology. Thus, the guidelines describe the main diseases of urinary system in children. Such guidance in the domestic literature no.
We hope that this manual will benefit urologists, children's urologists, pediatricians.
