Children's home - state institution dedicated to education of children who have lost their parents or have lost touch with them, for the children of single mothers, who wished to put them in an orphanage, as well as for education of children in the family are not required for this conditions (illness of parents, deprivation of their parental rights and other reasons).
The children raised in orphanages, are on full state maintenance. There are several different types of orphanages: pre-school, school, mixed, special and orphanages for the disabled. In pre-school orphanages children are brought up with 3-4 years to 7 years of age, then are transferred in school-orphanages. School children's homes provide training of children in secondary schools. In the orphanages of mixed type, there are pre-school and school departments.

Children's homes are the responsibility of the authorities of public education, or the industrial enterprises, agencies, collective farms, and homes for the disabled in the management Bodies of social security.
Medical care of children's homes of all departments is carried out under the direct supervision of the bodies of health.
Medical-preventive help to children from orphanages have doctors and nurses comprised in the States of orphanages; specialized medical examinations of pupils is carried out by doctors of regional medical institutions attached to the children's home. In orphanages in rural areas who two age groups of children, where a full-time position of a doctor is absent, instead of the position nurses may be a nurse. Under the guidance of a doctor, the nurses, the orphanage conducts preventive vaccinations, physiotherapeutic procedures, as well as organizes and holds all tempering procedures among children, monitors the inculcation hygiene practices. The responsibility of nurses of children's homes is also the control over proper nutrition organization. Among the staff of the orphanage nurse or nurse conducts sanitary-educational work and monitors the fulfilment of sanitary-hygienic rules. All medical reports and records of medical work are paramedical personnel.
