Diarrhea virus

Diarrhea virus (synonym diarrhea virus) - sharp, little studied viral disease characterized by a primary lesion of the gastrointestinal tract (diarrhea), fever, symptoms of respiratory and nervous system. Nosological independence viral diarrhea has not been proved; in modern, viral diarrhea syndrome in some viral diseases, in particular enteroviral and adenovirus. The disease occurs as sporadic cases and group outbreaks, usually in children. The source of infection is a sick man. Infection occurs, apparently, alimentary infections. The receptivity, the pathogenesis and immunity are not well understood. The incubation period is 1-3 days. Onset of acute, with the rise of temperature to 38-39°, appears nausea, vomiting, headache, vague abdominal pain and abundant diarrhea several times a day; in stool mucus and blood is not observed. Diarrhea is usually accompanied by symptoms of respiratory - cough, runny nose, and sometimes precede the development of intestinal disorders, sometimes within a few days after the onset of diarrhea. Intoxication small. Possible enlargement of the liver, spleen, lymph nodes. Sometimes there are phenomena of meningism. The disease lasts 3 to 7 days.
Complications are rare, prognosis is good. The differential diagnosis should be excluded dysentery (see) and food diseases (see). Specific treatment is not. With the purpose of influence on the secondary flora use and sulfa antibiotic drugs (ftalazol or sulgin 1 g 4 times a day, tetracycline 200 000 IU 4 times a day). Prevention is the same as when other acute intestinal infectious and enterovirus diseases. Specific prophylaxis not. Patients will be hospitalized at the infectious hospital.
