Longitudinal diathermy head and inegalitarian by Scherbak in the treatment of dysfunctional uterine bleeding

For the first time the treatment of disorders menopause diathermy head was proposed in 1925 Szenes, reported that out of 20 women with climacteric neurosis 17 was positive result. In 1933, C. E. Dorfman has published data about 50 observations of application of longitudinal diathermy in climacteric neurosis with good effect in 40 patients. They used fronto-occipital position of the electrodes in the exposition 10-15 min and current of 0.3-0.5 A. Simultaneously with the improvement of General condition, termination of the tides, it was noted ending headaches, reduction of obesity. Similar information has led and A. Akhvlediani and the Imperial Kubaneishvili (1945).
The mechanism of action of longitudinal diathermy is not clear. Szenes assumed that this procedure improves the metabolism in diencephalic structures of the brain, Briinner-Orstein reported significant improvement of blood supply of a brain by expanding blood vessels (trophic role).
A similar opinion was shared by A. Akhvlediani and the Imperial Kubaneishvili.
In the therapy of angioneurosis, migraine, metabolism disorders widely used advanced A. Shcherbakov (1937) ways, affecting the so-called "collar zone". The peculiarities placing of electrodes allow to influence upper cervical sympathetic ganglia and their derivatives in the form of carotid sinus. So, A. A. Shlykov (1938) believes that the effect is carotid sinus. Taking into account given in the first Chapter the data on the influence of the sympathetic nervous system on the implementation of the sexual cycle, we can assume that collar on Shcherbakov leads to positive results due to the effect on the hypothalamic centers. A. R. Kilchenskiy (1959) the diversity of the positive effect explains the beneficial effect on the trophic bodies neck and head. Interesting observation I. E. Lebedev (1954), who showed that electric shocks on sinocarotidna area leads to the development of moderate ischemia and increased contractility of the uterus with a specific hemostatic effect at the time metrorrhagia.
An introduction to the main provisions of these two methods has led to thoughts about their concomitant use with dysfunctional anovulatory uterine bleeding, developing women because of the lack of maturity of the hypothalamic-pituitary system (puberty) or due to involutional processes (menopause) in the absence of rhythm sexual cycles. This was done first Century A. Kashin, E. I. Vasilyeva, A. C. Zaboronkova (1957), and then continued us (S. N., Davydov, 1963). Method of treatment consisted in the following. Longitudinal diathermy brain has been carried out with fronto-occipital the location of the electrodes, exposure - 20 min, current strength from 0.1 to 0.3 mA. Galvanic collar conducted in such a way that forked electrode placed on the upper part of the shoulder girdle and neck, and strip was specialise 1% solution NaBr. Procedures were released in a day: day one, day, another, with a total quantity of each of them through 6. Thus, the course of treatment on average took 2 weeks.
From a total of 262 patients with dysfunctional uterine bleeding on the ground anovulatory processes 42 was in puberty and 220 in the climacteric period. However 120 patients treated only in this way without conducting preliminary diagnostic curettage of the uterus, and 142 have undergone this therapy immediately after scraping. Before treatment, 183 women suffered in the past, repeated bleeding that required hospital treatment.
