Erythema infectious

Erythema infectious (synonym: fifth disease, pseudochrysura). The causative agent is unknown. Sick more often children aged from 5 to 12 years. The incubation period is 7 to 14 days.
The disease begins with the appearance on the cheeks red maculopapular that quickly merge together. On the second day of illness, the rash appears on the extensor surfaces of the extremities and in the form of single elements on the trunk. After the merger of separate elements with each other are formed erythematous field of irregular shape. The rash begins to fade away from the centre. Along with the fading elements appear fresh rash. The rash disappears for 6-10-th day of illness, leaving the marble drawing on the skin. Peeling is not observed. The temperature sometimes increases slightly. You may experience mild redness of the throat. The General condition is not disturbed. There is no complications. Immunity lasts for life, recurrent disease is not found.
The prognosis is favorable. The treatment is not provided.

Some authors believe that the disease is caused by different types of viruses ECHO; however, it has not received General recognition.
Epidemiology not been studied. Infection occurs, apparently, airborne. The disease occurs as sporadic illnesses or small outbreaks in institutions and families. Ill mostly children 5-12 years. After infectious erythema remains, obviously, a strong immunity.
The incubation period of 4-14 days. The disease begins by eruption. The rash first appears on the cheeks in the form of a small red maculopapular, rapidly increasing in size, merging between themselves and erythematous form fields. The skin of the nose and lips still pale. Next, the rash spreads to the trunk and extremities, localized primarily on the extensor surfaces. The rash begins to fade from the centre, gradually taking bluish, violet or grayish color, and turns to wrong rings and chains; disappears after 4-10 days, leaving the skin marbling. Peeling is missing. Precipitation was accompanied by a slight increase in temperature. The General condition is not disturbed. In blood discover eosinophilia and sometimes leukopenia. There is no complications.
Erythema infectious often do not recognize, mixing it with diseases such as rubella, measles, scarlet fever, echo-exanthema, etc.
Treatment in most cases too. When necessary, symptomatic measures.
Prevention activities are not conducted.
