Galactosemia

Galactosemia is the appearance of galactose in the blood. OK galactose, adopted with food, through complicated enzymatic process is converted in the liver into glycogen. Temporary (alimentary) galactosemia occurs after loading galactose for diagnostic specimens at illnesses of a liver. In congenital deficiency of the enzyme, performing the conversion of galactose, a chronic galactosemia. Galactose accumulates in the blood and tissues, causing them to change (in the lens - cataracts, liver cirrhosis , and so on). The disease is hereditary and can be found already in early childhood. Is rare. One of the symptoms is galactosuria.
