pus Pus is exudateformed when purulent inflammation. Is a yellowish liquid, yellowish-green color with a specific odor, thick or thin in consistency and alkaline (rarely neutral or acidic) reaction. Pus contains large amounts of protein, disintegrating leukocytes (purulent cells), the lost elements of tissues, bacteria (live or dead - Streptococcus, Staphylococcus, Neisseria meningitides, and others), causing purulent inflammation (see). Sometimes pus contains various foreign objects (fragments of shells, bullets, fragments of clothing, etc.)Svejii pus is characterized by high bactericidal activity. Unlike other exudates, pus has the ability to melt tissue that is associated with the presence of active enzymesproduced in the decay of leukocytes, items of fabric, possibly as a result of vital activity of microorganisms.
