It is known that the spread of sexually transmitted diseases is associated with the class structure of society, socio-economic and living conditions of life of the population. In conditions of tsarist Russia, when there was exploitation of man by man, economic and political injustice women, unemployment, child homelessness, alcoholism and a number of other reasons, is inseparably connected with the capitalist system, the distribution of gonorrhoea among the population was inevitable.
Fighting against gonorrhea at the time was essentially the only therapeutic intervention, which were also poorly organized, for the treatment of patients was concentrated in private practitioners that not everything was available, besides some remedial measures to deal with gonorrhea impossible.
The first place in the fight against gonorrhea, as well as with other social diseases, belongs to a wide obshestvennosti activities. Therefore, only after the great October socialist revolution, in connection with the made by the Soviet government socio-economic reforms, favorable conditions were created for a successful struggle against sexually transmitted diseases in General, and with gonorrhea specifically.
Constantly growing material and cultural standard of living of workers of the USSR, the emancipation of women and involvement in the production and political life of the country, destruction of unemployment, homelessness, the elimination of prostitution all this has created favorable conditions for combating venereal diseases and led to their sharp decline.
