Cold in the service of medicine

Many years of creative Union of doctors-oncologists with physicists and engineers in the field of cryomedicine gave tangible results: for the first time in the world to develop the scientific-theoretical and practical bases of cold application in Oncology. This problem was successfully solved by the teams of scientists of the all-Union oncological scientific centre of the Academy of medical Sciences of the USSR, the all-Union scientific-research and testing Institute of medical technology of Ministry of health of the USSR and a number of industrial enterprises in cooperation with Polish scientists of the research center of medical technology and Institute of Oncology named Maria Curie-Sklodowska.
The use of cold medicine was known in ancient times. However, paradoxically, modern clinical medicine has been studying this method essentially only in the last twenty years. Wide its introduction in practice contributed to the overall progress of science, especially in its natural and engineering industries.
By the early 70-ies the situation when clinical studies cryogenic method is much ahead of its experimental development. Before collective of authors was a extremely complex problem: to study the characteristics of cryoinfluence directly in biological tissues in conjunction with the influence of external parameters.
Was created cryogenic equipment with automatic program control for high stability cryotherapy. It was found that micro - and macroscopic characteristics of freezing and cryonecrosis significantly depend on variations of temperature, time and speed of cooling, and also from the tool options and technologies cryotherapy.
The fundamental importance conducted biomedical research is that developed a scientifically justified basis for application of cryogenic method in Oncology and defined the ways for further development of this important social and economic aspects direction.
First formulated in recommendations on the design of specialized cryogenic equipment for Oncology and technologies of using this method in clinical practice.
Suggested new, improved ways of cryogenic systems, methods have been developed for automatic program control, new technological methods simultaneously two (several) cryoinstruments with overlapping zones, consecutive or simultaneous combination contact method and jtpHa-spraying, ultrasound.
Particularly noteworthy research to improve the reliability and improve ergonomic characteristics of cryogenic equipment. Created cryogenic pipeline (biswakarma insulation), which remains flexible at low temperatures and allows you to fine manipulative actions in the period of surgery.
Created basic multifunction installation with automatic control cryogenic at a pre-specified programs (KRK-01, kprc-02), the universal installation for combined effect (CAUMA-01), small (manual) of cryogenic devices (AC-02, KP-01).
A wide cycle of clinical research consisted of two main sections: medical testing cryogenic medical equipment and study of cryogenic method of treatment for outdoor localization of tumors.
At the same time the algorithm of mathematical modeling of the process of cryoinfluence not different histological characteristics of the tumor. Solved extremely important for oncological practice objective: developed management practices cryotherapy, predicting the most likely result of cryosurgery and choice to achieve the desired profiles. Over a 10-year period made fundamental range of studies, ensuring effective use of the method in malignant tumors.
