Incubation period

The incubation period (synonym: incubation, the latent period) is the time interval from the moment of infection of the body to clinical manifestations of the disease. During this period there is a adaptation of the pathogen to biochemical and other features of the organism, its accumulation at the expense of reproduction, allergization of the organism, changing reflex excitability of the nervous system and regulatory functions, immunological changes, etc.
The duration of the incubation period for each infectious disease different and can vary depending on the state of physiological reactivity (resistance) of the microorganism, the infective dose of the pathogen, its penetration, etc.
The incubation period for some infectious diseases listed in the table.
