Damage piercing and cutting items

Cutting items can immerse yourself in the body not only when sliding the blade, but when immersed in the body of the pointed end. In such cases, to talk about a stab injuries, while the artefacts themselves called sharp. These include knives, daggers, branches shears and other Dive pointed blade deep into the body is accompanied by the separation of tissues - section (Fig. 51).

The main feature knife incised wounds is the prevalence of her depth on length and width. Depending on the shape of the blade sharpening wounds have different configuration. When double-edged blade wounds may seem like a cut, but the length of the wound in such cases will always be less depth. If the damage inflicted knife with a blade, the wound has the form of an exclamation mark: round from the back and sharp on the part of the cutting edge. The length of the knife incised wounds on the skin, as a rule, is more than the width of the blade due to the additional section, which is produced, for example, when immersed blade into the body at a sharp angle or when it is ejected.
In cases where damage is inflicted piercing-cutting instrument, with a rectangular cross-section thick butt, education possible damage to the skin in the form of lacerations (cuts), obliquely waste 1-3 mm from the blunt end of a wound. When removing piercing-cutting object from a wound and even small turn offensive weapons around its longitudinal axis can be formed additional cuts from sharp end of wounds fundamentally shape "swallow tail".

Depending on the form of sharpening butt cuts from his side can reach 5-8 mm, especially in cases, when the pressure on the blade when diving was performed on obushkovo part. Thus, stab wound may be uneven lines consisting of separate parts, mechanism of origin are different.
Research wound channel (layer slices) allows not only to clarify its depth (and thus the length of the damaging part of the subject), but also to identify the mechanism of formation of its parts (when diving or removing the blade).
Depth knife incised wounds may depend not only on the depth of the blade, but also from areas where inflicted wound (Fig. 52). Often the bottom of the wound is subject to the bone. Dive piercing-cutting object may be limited and its handle. Piercing-cutting subject, penetrating into the abdominal cavity, may, at a known distance to shift the anterior abdominal wall and to penetrate much deeper than the seemingly allows blade length. In these cases, it may be that the depth of the wound is greater than the length of the blade damage of the subject. When stab injuries of the chest may occur pneumothorax, which leads to the displacement of bodies and a kind of "lengthening" wound channel. In addition, the wound channel can result in cavities of the body (large vessel, heart, trachea). All this makes certain difficulties in establishing one of the important aspects of the damaging of the object - the length of the blade.
When the autopsy necessarily measure the depth of the wound in the damaged organ. To this amount was added thickness of the skin, muscles, the thickness of the service. The amount is approximate length of the blade.
To identify the size and shape of the damaging of the object on the specifics of the blind wound channels in parenchymatous organs apply special methods of filling them polymer plastic masses and get the impression that reproduces the shape of the end part of the painful subject.
