Kyphosis

Kyphosis is the curvature of the spine, the bulge facing backwards. Distinguish between physiological kyphosis (breast, hips kyphosis) and pathological. Physiological kyphosis - total (bending backwards throughout the spine) is observed among newborns and in the first months of life.

Pathological kyphosis may be the corner [in the defeat of one or more vertebrae tuberculous process (Fig. 1), after injury] or arched, if in a process involving many vertebrae (rickets, flaccid paralysis). The treatment and prevention of kyphosis seeks to correct curvature of the spine, first of all - with the help of exercises that strengthen the muscles of the back (LFC). Gymnastics should include a set of exercises that promote arching the spine, mobility him in his chest, pulling; also recommend crawling and breathing exercises (Fig. 2-4).

Applied also massage, physiotherapy, provisions to relieve the spine (Fig. 5); corrective and unloading corsets. It is useful for therapeutic purposes put the patient on his stomach with wedge-shaped stand under the breast or on a hard bench with divorced hands. It is necessary to eliminate the adverse factors: incorrect posture of the child during school hours; the standing of the child in a bent position for a long time; with defects of sight require glasses. Out of sport activities for patients with kyphosis especially useful swimming, ball games: water Polo., pazouki volleyball ball, walking on skis with sticks. Healthy way of life, physical training, sports, being outdoors, good sleep, reasonable food preserving optimal weight and other rules of the observance of the normal mode is necessary conditions for the prevention and treatment of posture, spinal deformities. Operative treatment of kyphosis is rarely used.
