Leiomyoma

Leiomyoma (leiomyoma; from the Greek. leios - smooth and mys, myos - muscle), a benign tumor originating from the smooth muscle fibers.
Leiomyoma can occur in all organs with the smooth muscle fibers, but are more common in the uterus, in the digestive tract, the urinary bladder, prostate and skin. By its origin leiomyoma skin, esophagus, intestines are considered dysontogenetic education, L. cancer - as a consequence of endocrine disorders.
The tumor round form, clearly separated from the surrounding tissues; its consistence dense, especially with the rich content of connective tissue (leiomyoma). Sites L. often multiple, sizes range from microscopic to the diameter of the head term of the fetus and more; on the cut - pink, gray-white color with a unique layered drawing by crossing different situated muscle bundles. Microscopically leiomyoma built of muscle fibers, which in comparison with somewhat larger than normal. Nuclei of tumor cells is also relatively larger and richer chromatin. In L. muscle fibers form a randomly located beams and around vessels sometimes concentrically placed in the form of clutches. Vessels usually a little; they are thin, with a narrow clearance; rarely L. contain a large number of dilated vessels (cavernous HP).
In the long-existing leiomyoma in the circulatory disorders can occur dystrophic and atrophic changes in the muscle fibres, replacing them with connective tissue; the latter may be hyalinosis, petrification, less of ossification. In addition, leiomyoma can occur foci of necrosis, hemorrhage with the formation of cysts. Possible malignancy L. (see Leiomyosarcoma). The surgical treatment, prognosis is good.
Leiomyoma skin (synonym: myoma cutis, dermatomycota) - usually benign tumor of the skin, originating from smooth muscle tissue. There are single leiomyoma of the skin, single L. genitals (these L. there are some features of the structure) and multiple L. skin. Histologically for all HP skin is characterized by interlocking of fibre bundles of smooth muscle with bundles of collagen tissue.
Single leiomyoma of the skin (synonym single angiolipoma) formed from the smooth muscles of the venous wall, represent nodes, usually not exceeding 1 cm, rarely 1.5 cm in diameter. Located in the depth of the dermis are above the surrounding skin in the form of oval or round tumors pinkish-yellow, sometimes with a brown shade. The boundaries clear (tumors encapsulated), consistence dense. Often tumor-crossed by blood vessels. On the skin of the face and extremities, often top, can be observed the group moving tumors unrelated. Palpation sharp pain, but it can occur spontaneously. Paroxysmal pain develop suddenly and abruptly disappear after 1,5-2 hours. The pain and stress of the tumor can grow under the influence of cold.
Single leiomyoma of the genital organs may develop on the scrotum, labia lips, around the nipples breast. Tumors these pinkish-yellow color, size up hazelnut, usually loose.
Multiple L. skin - not more than 0.5-0.7 cm in diameter, often strained, can be disseminirovanne and groups, often combined with fibroids. Described cases of multiple family members, as well as the development of multiple L. skin at the site of injury.
Single L. genitals and multiple L. skin not encapsulated; number of blood vessels in them is small, the amount of collagen usually very much; are located in the dermis.
For leiomyoma skin lasting, positive Outlook, malignant degeneration is extremely rare. Treatment: surgical, electrocoagulation, the use of carbonic acid snow.
