Toxic dystrophy of liver (massive necrosis of the liver) is called the influence of hepatic poisons (industrial, vegetable), infections. Most often occurs when existing liver disease.
Predisposing factors to the development of toxic dystrophy in patients suffering from liver disease, are nervous shock, excessive use of morphine, barbiturates, accession of infectious diseases, ignoring the recommended diet.
Massive necrosis can occur in Central slices (in viral hepatitis) or on the periphery of them (in toxic liver damage). The clinical picture is characterized by the unconscious state, jaundice, reduction of the sizes of a liver, a progressive disruption of the liver, especially antitoxic, increase of poisoning all systems of the body until the development of hepatic coma (see).
The prognosis is bad.
Treatment - see Hepatalgia.
TB lesions of the liver may be different. Miliardo disseminated tuberculosis liver is manifested by fever, chills, heavy sweating, increased liver and spleen, jaundice. Complete recovery is possible with timely initiation of TB treatment in combination with steroid hormones. Tuberculosis Wegener liver observed in patients with tuberculosis of the lungs and other organs. Granuloma with cheesy disintegration in the centre, which can contribute to the development of TB cholangitis, consists of lymphocytes. Tuberculoma and tuberculous abscesses of the liver is a very rare phenomenon.
Syphilis. The use of antibiotics in the treatment of syphilis has sharply reduced the number of syphilis cases of liver damage. Liver damage can be observed in congenital syphilis and in the tertiary stage of acquired syphilis. Congenital syphilis is manifested in the form of diffuse interstitial hepatitis. At the tertiary syphilis in the liver syphilis develop gum. As a result of their scarring of the liver may become deformed or scars can compress the portal vein or bile ducts. Clinical symptoms expressed little. Laparoscopic examination can confirm the presumptive diagnosis of syphilis lesions of the liver. Gum can shrink in size under the influence of treatment with penicillin.
