The Meigs syndrome

The Meigs syndrome (J. V. Meigs) -a rare combination of fibroids or fibromatoses tumors of the ovary with ascites and hydrothorax. All three components of the syndrome of Meigs (ascites, hydrothorax, ovarian tumors) was observed in only a few cases. Ovarian tumor, accompanied only by ascites, were more frequent.
The pathogenesis of simultaneous accumulation of fluid in chest and abdominal cavities in benign tumors of the ovary is unclear (congenital defect in the diaphragm, perforating the aperture lymphatic vessels). Surgery syndrome of Meigs must be gentle.
