Based on the concept of nervism, i.e. the recognition of the leading values of the nervous system in the regulation of body functions, I. P. Pavlov took to prove that it affects not only the heart rate, but their force. Through painstaking research I. P. Pavlov found among the multitude of nerve branches heart nerve irritation which increased heart contractions. This nerve is called "strengthening nerve Pavlova".
The opening of I. P. Pavlov was another side. In fact, if the nervous system sends signals, under the influence of which the heart muscle becomes stronger, then, consequently, in muscle fibers of the heart is changing the intensity of the chemical processes of metabolism. Hence, the scientist concluded that the nervous system controls the nutrition of tissues, all the chemical processes in them, the trophism (from the Greek. trophe - power). It was then proven in several studies I. P. Pavlov and his disciples. It was found that the metabolic processes in the body manage all the same conductors - neural and humoral regulation.
