Novokainamid

Novokainamid (Novocainamidum; list B) is an antiarrhythmic agent. Apply with paroxysmal tachycardia, atrial fibrillation, arrythmia. After the test dose (0.5 g), novokainamid assign inside of 0.5-1 g per reception (up to 3-4 grams per day) or intramuscularly in a dose of 5-10 ml 10% solution (by 20-40 ml, or 2-4 g / day). In case of emergency, novokainamid injected (from 2 to 10 ml of 10% solution, slowly!). The course of treatment no more than 3-5 days. Possible complications: low blood pressure, weakness, headache, nausea, vomiting, agitation, insomnia, oppression heart activity and ventricular fibrillation. Forms: tablets : 0.25 g, 10% solution in sealed vials of 10 ml in ampoules of 5 ml Keep in dark place. Cm. also Antiarrhythmic agent.
