Novocaine

Novocaine (Novocainum; synonym Procaini hydrochloridum; list B) - an anaesthetic agent. For branches anaesthesia using 0.25-0.5% solutions; anesthesia method Century A. Vishnevsky (tight creeping infiltration) - 0,125 - 0,25% solution; for block anesthesia - 1-2% solution; for epidural anesthesia 2% solution (20-25 ml)for spinal - 5% solution (2-3 ml). On the surface anesthesia novocaine little active. For treatment of various diseases solutions novocaine applied intravenously, intramuscularly and inside (with hypertension, spasms of blood vessels, atherosclerosis, late toxicosis of pregnancy, ulcer disease of stomach and duodenal ulcers, eczema, neurodermatitis). Higher doses: single inside - 0.25 g in muscle (2% solution) 0.1 g (5 ml), in Vienna (0.25% solution) 0.05 g (20 ml); daily intake - 0.75 g, muscle and veins - 0,1, infiltration anesthesia, the first single dose at the start of operation of no higher than 1,25 g (0.25% solution novokaina) or 0.75 grams (0.5% solution novokaina). In the future, for each hour operations, no higher than 2.5 g (0.25% solution novokaina) and 2 g when using 0.5% solution. Possible side effects are - dizziness, General weakness, collapse (see).
