Orthophoria

Orthophoria - ideal muscle balance both eyes, creating optimal conditions for binocular vision. There is rarely, usually heterophoria (see).

Orthophoria (from the Greek. orthos - direct, correct and phero - am, directed) is the ideal muscle balance of both eyes. Due to orthophoria anatomical and neurological factors (particularly the provisions of the eyeballs in the sockets, the impulses for convergence and divergence, the ratio of accommodation-convergence, the tone of the eye muscles, and others). If orthophoria both eyes upon separation (for example, by prekrivanja one or division of fields of view) keep the balanced position and vertical direction vertical meridians of the cornea. O. creates optimal conditions for binocular merging images under consideration of the subject, and greatly facilitates the visual work. O. occurs in about 4-5 times less of heterophoria (see). Diagnosis of orthophoria based on the absence of installation of eye movements during the sampling covering" one of them. More reliable research by means of the scale of Meddoksa and prestavlenija to one of the eyes sticks Meddoksa and prism base downwards or upwards. This light strip (respectively vertical or horizontal) exactly coincides with the zero scale divisions.
