A retinal detachment

A retinal detachment is a disease in which the broken link retinal pigment epithelium (see the Eye). Emerging gap between them is filled in with liquid. There are primary and secondary retinal detachment.
Primary retinal detachment occurs more often at high myopia (see) and the elderly in the presence of retinal degenerative modified sections. In case of physical stress, sudden movements, bruises eyes in these places there is a gap in the retina or its separation from the insertion at the dentate line. Intraocular fluid penetrates beneath the retina and detaches it. Usually suffers one eye, but can cause retinal detachment and on the second eye. When retinal detachment patients complain of a feeling of sparks in front of the eye, the emergence of the shadow, the veil or the dark clouds in connection with the loss of a parcel of a field of vision. Visual acuity is reduced; especially sharply reduced expressed in those cases when the retinal detachment captures the scope yellow spots. The disease gradually progresses and ends with blindness, if time does not apply surgical treatment. Patient with suspected retinal detachment must be urgently directed to the optometrist. The final diagnosis is based on the data ophthalmoscopy and other special studies.
Treatment prompt, aimed at closing or delimitation tear in the retina. Apply the diathermocoagulation, photocoagulation (see Lasers), cryocoagulation. After the operation appoint strict bed rest and binocular bandage on 10-12 days. Within 3-4 weeks prescribe sparing mode (contraindicated exercise, sharp movements), wearing special (perforated) points.
Secondary retinal detachment is developed as a result of various pathological processes in the eye - injury, inflammation, tumor. Treatment in most cases, surgery.

The retinal detachment (ablatio retinae) is a disease of the eye characterized by the violation of contact between the layer of pigment epithelium associated with the choroid, and the rest of the layers of the retina.
There are primary and secondary O. C. O. In primary form retin peel intraocular liquid penetrating it through the gap, or separation from the point of insertion. Secondary O. C. O. is a consequence of a number of diseases such as tumors of the choroid, uveitis (with subretinal exudation), disease coats and so on, In the emergence of retinal breaks are important changes of the vitreous body and thinning retinal with myopia, racemose degeneration in older age and t.. forth In these conditions the direct cause of the gap can be eye injury, concussion of the body, sudden head movements, etc. Serious eye injuries can lead to O. S. O. and when healthy retina.
The clinical picture of retinal detachment usually characterized. Patients complain of deterioration of view, the curvature lines, the emergence of "shroud" in front of the eye. In the fundus area of O. C. O., as a rule, are well visible, often in the form of a bubble with multiple folds of the retina. In primary O. C. O. mostly find a gap or a separation of the retina (Fig. 1 and 2).

In view accordingly zone O. C. O. notes, the defect. Left to itself O. C. O. progresses and usually becomes total, which leads to blindness. For secondary O. C. O. depends on the nature of the underlying disease.
Treatment of primary O. C. O., as a rule, surgery; the immediate goal of the operation is to close the gap of the retina or detach it from the dentate line. Accordingly, this area is called the burn of retina to cause here adhesive inflammation. The proposed Gonen (J. Gonin) armaceutical sclera was replaced diathermocoagulation, and in some cases - svetamaytala produced by machines.
The second most important element of operations for detachment retina is the achievement of contact between the retina and the rest of the membranes of eyes in the place where called adhesive inflammation. Expelling the subretinal fluid is often not enough. In this regard, spread methods of operations or reduction of the volume of eyes in General (resection of sclera, ring impression membranes of eyes and so on)or is limited impression membranes of eyes to the area of retinal rupture. A successful result, it is the fit of the retina, in these types of operations can obtain much more often (up to 80% or more)than when one diathermocoagulation sclera.
