Phagocytosis

Phagocytosis is the process actively engages and acquisitions of living organisms (bacteria, fungi, and so on) and non-living particles unicellular organisms or specific macro-cell - phagocytes. Capture process and absorb the liquid particles is called pinocytosis. The higher animals and humans the ability to phagocytosis have granular white blood cells, cells of the reticuloendothelial system and macrophages.
Phagocytosis proceeds in two stages: 1) adsorption of particles on the surface of macrophages, 2) the actual penetration of particles in the cell. Absorbed particle, as a rule, is dissolved or digested, but some species of pathogenic microorganisms capable of a long time to exist in the body of the macrophage (endocytosis).
