Pneumatic and projectiles

One of the weapons, similar to fire on the constructive and ballistic properties is thrown weapons (rifles and pistols), in which the kinetic energy of the bullet is not created due to the combustion of gunpowder, and through the transfer of mechanical energy of compressed air. Such weapons are called pneumatic. It differs fundamentally from the firearms that has the capacity in which the air blowing piston at loading, is compressed. When the trigger is released, the piston and expanding the air tells progressive movement pool, located in the barrel of the gun. Bullet gains initial speed (relatively small) and flying at a distance of 30 to 50 M. the Bullet could be in the form of a hemispherical cylinders with a diameter 3-4 mm or metal caps with acute head end and tassel (stabilizer) at the opposite end (for stabilization of flight). As bullets can be used also lead balls (usually a fraction № 2-4), wrapped in paper or cotton wool.
When shooting from the pneumatic weapon, even from a distance of several meters bullets can cause severe injury (brain damage through the eye socket, the destruction of the eyeball, blind injured carotid artery, penetrating wound of the thorax with damage to the heart and other). When shooting from the pneumatic weapon damage is always a single, wound channels blind. At the entry wounds are not always formed tissue defect, the bullet can act wedge. Around the wound never find components, generally accompanying a gunshot (deposits of gunpowder soot, powder particles)that may lead to the wrong conclusion about the gunshot supposedly from a long distance.
Propelling device have nothing to do with firearms, except for certain cases of external structural similarity. Being a predecessor of firearms ("shoot" - to produce an arrow), propelling device currently used in sports (crossbows, bows, rifles for underwater hunting). As damaging objects (offensive missiles) are arrows different designs, spears, harpoons, the kinetic energy of the flight which is created due to the elastic properties or the structure itself (onion), or parts (rubber from rifles for underwater hunting). Defects which appear under the influence of arrows and harpoons, are crushed. The wound channels mostly blind. In some cases when removing arrows (a harpoon in the depth of the wound can remain tip. Damage can be considerable, capturing not only the softer tissues, but even flat bones.
