In recent decades has greatly increased the specific weight of traffic injuries.
Criminal code of the RSFSR, as relevant codes of other Union republics, provides for criminal liability for infringement of rules of traffic safety and operation of transport (articles 211 and 212).
The investigation of accidents in General and road transport in particular often causes great difficulties, since they take place in a rather short period of time and often in the absence of witnesses. This, in turn, places high demands on the examination of damages arising from transport accidents. The results of the examination can be crucial for the establishment of separate details of the incident.
Among mechanical damage trauma caused by vehicles, is an independent group. In accordance with the characteristics of damage mechanisms of their occurrence and types of vehicles decided to allocate the damage caused by road transport means, means of water transport, and aviation injury.
In forensic practice road vehicles are divided into trackless (cars, motorcycles, trolley buses, tractors and other) and rail (train, tram and others).
