Propazin

Propazin (Propazinum; list B) neuroleptic drug. On the chemical structure and pharmacological properties propazin close to chlorpromazine (see); inferior to the latter sedative effect, but is less toxic. Apply for the same reasons as chlorpromazine. Assign into tablets or drops 0.05-0.15 g per reception 2-4 times a day after meals. For maintenance therapy appoint 0.05 - 0.1-0.15 g 1-2 times a day. Intramuscularly appoint 0.05-0.1 - 0.15 g 2-3 times a day, and the required number part (2,5%) of diluted in 5 ml of 0.25-0.5% solution novokaina or izotoniceski solution of sodium chloride. Intravenously injected 1-2 ml of 2.5% solution of propazine, divorced in 10-20 ml of 40% glucose solution or izotoniceski solution of sodium chloride. Precautions, the duration of treatment are the same as in the application of chlorpromazine. Propazin (Propazinum; synonym: Promazine, Sparine; list B) - neurologically and sedative; hydrochloride 10-(2'-dimethylaminopropyl)-fenotiazina. Propazin close to chlorpromazine (see), but inferior to him in activity. Used in psychiatry for the same reasons as aminazin, but in cases with easier for and supportive therapy. In the neurological, therapeutic, obstetric-gynecologic and dermatological practice it is used as a sedative. Single dose for adults 0,025-0,05 - 0,1 g daily - 0.2-0.3 g inside or intramuscularly.
