Prosencephalon

Prosencephalon (from the Greek. pros - before and enkephalos - brain) - front brain, along with a mesencephalon, and rhombencephalon forms the brain. In turn prosencephalon subdivided into: 1) telencephalon, or end the brain (hemisphere), and 2) diencephalon, or interstitial brain (epithalamus, thalamus, metathalamus, hypothalamus).
Prosencephalon develops from primary front brain bubble, which is further differentiated in interstitial bubble, or diencephalon, and two side bladder hemispheres (telencephalon). Underdeveloped in lower vertebrates, prosencephalon reaches its highest development in humans. Cm. also the Hypothalamus, the brain, the Thalamus.
