Antiplague institutes

The first anti-plague institution in Russia, was founded in 1899 and was called "a Special laboratory of the Institute of experimental medicine in manufacturing anti-plague of drugs in the Fort Alexander I". In 1901, was created anti-plague bacteriological laboratory in Astrakhan.
Currently in the USSR on the territory of natural foci of plague and near them has a network of anti-plague institutes, stations and laboratories.
Scientific-methodical center of all of this network is the Saratov state scientific research Institute of Microbiology and epidemiology South-East of the USSR "Microbe".
The purpose of anti-plague institutions is the study of epidemiology, epidemiology and prevention of plague, and holding of measures to combat the plague and disease prevention among the population living in these places.
