Prospects of development of surgery in the next 20 years will be driven by the success of fundamental research in biology, physics, chemistry, immunology. The significant impact and the development of related medical specialties - anesthesiology and critical care medicine, transfusion medicine, radiology and nuclear medicine, Oncology, Transplantology, antibiotic therapy, as well as technical and chemical Sciences, which will contribute to the improvement of medical instrumental equipping of surgery, supply of medicines and reagents.

Further development will receive modern organ-retaining operations in the surgical treatment of ulcer disease, methods of diagnostics and methods of reconstructive operations in diseases of liver, biliary tracts and pancreas. Are scheduled also the development of new and improvement of existing methods of prevention, diagnostics and treatment of large intestine diseases, improvement of the methods of anesthesia and intensive therapy in surgical interventions and other critical States using computer technology. Scientific problem "Reconstructive surgery" will be scheduled for the twelfth five-year plan as an important and progressive method of reconstructive surgery. Will continue research on cell-based immunity. Further development will research on immunology, creation of immunosuppressants, meeting modern requirements, type of cyclosporine, the study of immunity during the transplantation of embryonic tissue. Provided further program of works on creation of the artificial heart in the experiments (the restore function in a stopped heart and conservation of the heart) and in the clinic (the use of artificial ventricles of the heart), and in the future - the complete prosthesis heart in patients with acute heart failure.
