Cramps

Cramps - skeletal disorders caused by abnormal muscle contraction.
Seizures may develop in various diseases and Central nervous system injuries, poisoning, intoxication, violation of metabolism and the activity of internal secretion glands, as well as the nervousness. Cramps usually have paroxysmal character.
There are tonic and clonic convulsions.
Tonic seizures are characterized by long muscles (see Spasm), usually painless, but sometimes it is accompanied with sharp pain, for example, convulsions gastrocnemius muscles, the result of a temporary muscle ischemia. There are tonic seizures when myotonia (see), epilepsy (see).
Clonic seizures are characterized by rapid contractions of the muscles that follow each other after a short, but have different duration periods of time. For example, intentsionnogo cramp Rulfo, emerging only in the beginning of voluntary movements, which may appear in infectious brain damage or be a symptom of a genetic disease; hiccups at epidemic encephalitis, and clonic seizures in epilepsy after the attack tonic convulsions.
Convulsive component is acetone movement (see Atetoz) And torsion in the dystopia (see), which has forced reduction of muscles of the body; in some cases, seizures can occur at any one movement, for example, when writing a spasm (see).
With a convulsive spasm of the muscles of the face (parashas) or half of the face (GameSpot front) after a number clonic seizures occurs tonic spasms. Tonic and clonic convulsions occur in a hysterical fits, but, unlike epilepsy, quick change tonic clonic seizures usually does not happen, most often there is only one or another phase of seizures, which flows without loss of consciousness and subsequent sleep. Prevalence and duration can be distinguished convulsions localized, i.e. covering one group of muscles, and generalized, i.e. covering all the body; occasional and regular, frequent or rare, rhythmic and convulsively.
The treatment of convulsions pathogenetic, is conducted by a physician-neurologist: cramps in the calf muscles - papaverine 0.02 g 2 times a day, with epilepsy is luminal 0.1 g per night, in hysteria - bekhterevsky medicine. Cm. also Hyperkinesia, Tetany, Teak, Trism.
