Thanatology is a doctrine of death, its causes, mechanisms and signs. Schematically distinguish the basic kinds of death: the cessation of breathing (respiratory death), circulatory system (cardiac death), the termination of the functions of the vital parts of the Central nervous system (brain death). As a result of these processes occurs total anoxia (see Hypoxia) and the death of the body. All kinds of death are interrelated, although one of them is usually the main one. Identification of the main types of death has practical value, for example for resuscitation (see the Revival of the body).
