Thoracoplasty

Thoracoplasty is a surgical removal of all or several ribs on one side of the chest to cause a depression chest wall. Thoracoplasty produce with opening and without opening the pleura (intrapleurally and extrapleural thoracoplasty). Indications: the cavernous forms of pulmonary tuberculosis, chronic empiema pleura. Thoracoplasty is performed under local anesthesia or under intratracheal anesthesia.
