Tuberculin

Tuberculin (synonym altaberkeley Koch - ATC) is a drug used for tuberculosis diagnosis. Is a condensed filtrate killed by heating broth cultures of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and human bullish types. Tuberculin is a transparent liquid of dark brown color. Tuberculin is able to cause an allergic reaction in infected TB organism (Mantoux, cutaneous sample Pirke), while in a healthy organism it is not very active. Available in 1 ml ampoule; is stored in a dry, dark place at temperature from 3 to 10 degrees. Cm. also Tuberculosis.
