Virchow sign

Virchow sign (synonym Virchow gland) - the presence of one or more uneven painless nodules, apparently in the corner between the top edge of the left clavicle and the outer margin of the sternoclavicular-liners muscles. Observed in stomach cancer (less esophagus or intestines) and represents the tumor metastases in cervical lymph nodes. If the loss of weight, anemia, ahilii stomach and other symptoms characteristic Virchow can confirm the diagnosis of gastric cancer, even if the tumor is not palpated. Cm. also the Stomach (cancer).
