The method Wohlgemuth

The Wohlgemuth method - determination of amylase activity (diastase) in biological fluids (saliva, urine, blood, and other). The activity of the enzyme amylase is measured by units, i.e. the number of ml of 0.1% solution of starch, split within 30 minutes at temperature of 45 9 1 ml of the analyzed solution. For example, the normal activity of amylase in urine equal 16-64. Increased values are observed at pancreatitis, diseases of the biliary tract and other, lower values down to zero - in renal failure.
