Some sociologists (B. I. Urlanis, 1968; N. I. Bekaa, 1971) hold the opinion about the advisability of keeping the old traditions of extended family. Based on the results of specific studies of life and local traditions, they believe that life together will be useful for the society and for the family as a General housekeeping and upbringing of children, to some extent, will free the middle generation (main productive force) from home and will give the opportunity to use it in public work. However, any theoretical background of appropriateness of reconstituted families recently there has been continued commitment to their division. What are the reasons that lead to it? A number of experts believe that the separation of families is explained by the desire for greater independence and psychological freedom, which is observed not only among the young generation, but also elderly parents. This is called as the age (the need for silence, alone), so often and material independence of the elderly parents. However, it would be incorrect to assert that between related families are only "repulsive" forces. The pursuit of "freedom" is often reduced to the desire of both sides to have isolated house, but not to the disruption of old family contact (A. D. Baranov, 1969; Bronson, 1972; Eitner, 1969).
In our view, the issue of resettlement of reconstituted families cannot be solved unilaterally. For example, some data on trends in the development of the family and its needs in social communication received in one of the residential districts of Leningrad, where the surveyed families soon after their dismemberment (C. L. Rogge, 1974). The desire to combine family expressed lonely pensioners living. Families who are in close relationship (71%), wanted to live in the neighboring apartments and houses. Against neighbourhood with relatives were 23% of the surveyed. A survey of significant groups of older people showed that the majority of them is willing to live close friends, relatives, acquaintances, ie wants to communicate with loved ones. In this case, parents can help young in childcare and household. In turn, the elderly employ the services of family and friends during illness and during execution of labour associated with the physical strain.
This type of inspection is conducted and a number of other cities research institutes system of Gosgrajdanstroy the USSR, on the basis of which are developed theoretical background, programs, and in some cases, project proposals of accommodation and formation of the structure of housing units for the elderly in the system of the residential and residential district.
Many experts (C. L. Rogge, 1974; C. Y. Durmanov,. 1975) hold the opinion that for families and "family groups", formed as a result of the division of extended family, the most rational space, providing maximum stability and flexibility of contacts. To this type of housing are living cells with General; communication space and separate entrances, a common location for relaxation both families and utility room. For families who need more independence, these authors recommend the pair-an isolated form of settlement. Paired-insulated housing should consist of two apartments and have one common bathroom and two kitchens (one for the middle generation, and another-a kitchen-niche where warm up food for the older generation). In each apartment there must be a unit of sanitary-hygienic equipment. With this layout possible as a joint housekeeping and catering, and full economic independence. This form of accommodation is more convenient for families, which are mating pairs and one of the older but less acceptable to families of the young couple and a couple of older parents. For the last dwellings are designed with separate resettlement older and younger generations.
